What to eat in Puerto Maldonado?
Gastronomy in Puerto Maldonado uses a wide variety of flavors, textures and regional ingredients such as bananas, river fish, dried pork, cassava, among others, for the preparation of its typical dishes, the most delicious in the region.

Traditional food in Puerto Maldonado:
- Tacacho con cecina (jerky). Roasted or fried banana mashed with lard and dried pork, we shape it and serve it as a garnish with chorizo from the jungle.
- Caldo de carachama (Carachama broth). Carachama fish soup served with fried plantains and cilantro as decoration.
- Patarashca. Grilled fish seasoned with salt and pepper and stuffed with minced onion, cilantro chili and garlic.
- Juane. Chicken prey, hard-boiled egg and parboiled rice seasoned with onion, garlic, saffron and ground oregano, wrapped in bijao leaves that are parboiled in boiling water and after cooking is served as a tamale.
- Ensalada de Chonta (heart of palm salad). Thinly sliced chonta, julienned tomatoes and onions, avocado and lettuce seasoned with pepper and salt.
- Inchicapi de gallina. Chicken and cassava soup thickened with corn flour.
