The impressive Vinicunca mountain, mountain of 7 colors or rainbow mountain as it is commonly called, is one of the most wonderful views you will be able to see in your life. The colors that predominate in its stripes are green, red and lilac or lavender. These colors have formed over the years, they are sediments that have remained as a product of the phenomena and processes of the soils and that in Vinicunca can be appreciated thanks to the erosion of the climate of the area.
One day before the walk, your guide meets with you to give you some instructions, tell you what to bring to the walk and resolve any doubts you may have.
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco very early, between 4:40 AM and 06:00 AM, from there you will be driven by car to Chilca for about 3 hours reaching an altitude of 4500 meters (14 763 feet). On the way you will make a stop to have your breakfast. After breakfast you are ready to start the trek through the Ausangate mountains for approximately 3 hours in which you will have walked an approximate 4.5 kilometers (3 miles) and reached a height of 4,900 meters (16,076 feet).
Among the wonders that you will see during the walk, there will be no shortage of Andean camelids (llamas, vicuñas, guanacos, alpacas), you will also be able to see the Andean deer and with good luck a puma of the Andes or the majestic condor flying and spreading its large wings over the mountains.
After taking the best photos with the rainbow mountain behind you, you will return to Chilca for lunch and then you will leave for Cusco arriving at about 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM.
