The “Uros Islands” are an archipelago of artificial floating islands (built by man) of about 70 islands that are located in the Peruvian highlands on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at about 3812 meters above sea level. Among these islands, the Khantati Uros Island stands out, where the familiar houses have been conditioned so that visitors live an unforgettable experience spending the night with the native families that live there. These houses are very comfortable, clean and always taking care that the ecological impact on the surrounding nature is minimal.
Day 1
You will leave by boat from the city of Puno to the floating islands of the Uros until you reach Khantati Island, there a representative of the native families will tell you how they build their islands and how often they maintain it to avoid sinking. In the afternoon you will have lunch on the island and then you will navigate in a reed (totora) raft through the lake to see how they fish with nets, you will also know how they cut the reeds from the lake to stack them and build the islands, the inhabitants will show you their colorful handicrafts mostly woven, as well as other daily activities.
It will also be your turn to gather the reeds (totoras) to create some handicrafts such as one more inhabitant of the island, thus the afternoon will pass until it is time for dinner and after that you will rest in one of the houses set up for you.
Day 2
The next morning you will discover how many fish you caught in the nets that the day before you threw into the lake, once you finish that work, you will be served your breakfast to after that say goodbye to your new friends and return to the city of Puno by boat. You will live an adventure that you only live once in a lifetime.
