The trip from Cusco to Puno does not have to be boring traveling from a different perspective, in a first class bus that will be making stops in some places where you can discover more about Peruvian history.
The trip begins leaving Cusco at 8:00 AM to reach the town of Andahuaylillas in about an hour, where the bus will make a stop to visit the chapel of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas known as the "Sistine Chapel of America", called like that for the beautiful canvases of the Cusco School of the 17th century that adorn its interior.
After admiring the beautiful chapel, the bus will continue its journey to the city of Raqchi to visit a temple built by the Inca Pachacutec, from this temple its high adobe walls that once formed part of a great hall still stand. Very close you will also be able to see several mid-rise circular buildings that due to their shape were used to store food, as well as you will be able to appreciate in this complex several squares with buildings around them, possibly used to give shelter to the soldiers.
Later, by lunchtime, you will have reached the town of Sicuani. Passengers will get off the bus to go to a very cozy restaurant and enjoy dishes of the national Peruvian cuisine. After this point, the bus will be leaving the department of Cusco to enter the department of Puno.
The bus will depart after lunch towards the community of Pucará in a trip of about 2 and a half hours but before arriving the bus will cross "La Raya" pass, reaching the highest point of the trip, at 4338 meters (14 232 feet) above sea level.
In the town of Pucará there is a museum where you will see the ceramics, monoliths and other archaeological objects that are exhibited there and that belonged to the Pucará culture.
It is not long before you reach the final point of the trip, since Pucará is part of the department of Puno. The bus finally arrives in the city of Puno at 5:00 PM.
