The Sacred Valley has so much to show to you that this tour will take you all day long. You can be part of the Inca history walking through the ruins built on the heights of the mountains, visiting the colorful handicraft market of Pisac and taking the best photos of beautiful landscapes that seem painted by nature.
The first point of visit is the town of Pisac and its handicraft market, where you can see or buy beautiful handmade looms or soft clothes woven with alpaca wool such as scarves, gloves, sweaters and hats. But not only are they sold garments or looms but also handmade jewelry mainly made of silver, paintings of landscapes of the Sacred Valley, carved gourds with Inca motifs, carved wooden articles among others that you can take as souvenirs to decorate your home or give to your friends and family as a gift.
After visiting the market, the tour continues to the town of Urubamba so you can take a break having lunch, here the landscape is greener and more colorful.
After lunch you will continue your way to the town of Ollantaytambo to visit the Inca fortress built up the slope of a mountain. To get to the top you will have to climb a ladder of about 200 steps and thus reach the buildings that stood at the top such as the “Temple of the Sun” and the “Princess Baths”
The Sacred Valley is an important part in the history of the Spanish conquest, because when they arrived at the Ollantaytambo fortress they could not pass, one of the main reasons is that the Incas built their cities on the tops of the mountains, places that are not easily accessible to the enemies.
