Overview

The Historic Center of Quito is considered one of the most beautiful in South America for its old buildings, on this tour you will visit the “Basílica del Voto Nacional” (Basilica of the National Vow) with its neo-Gothic style compared to the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the “Igesia de San Francisco” (Church of San Francisco) a religious rescinct of great dimension built on 3 and a half hectares of surface considered as the first religious building built in South America by the Spanish conquerors, also the “Iglesia de la Compañía” (Church of the Company) in baroque style with its façade carved entirely in volcanic stone, you will also visit the “Plaza de la Independencia” (Independence Square) flanked by the Government Palace and the Metropolitan Cathedral. You finally will be headed north of Quito and visit the famous monument called “Middle of the World” that is located right on the Equatorial Line.

The city of Quito in Ecuador is located at 2,850 meters (9,350 feet) above sea level, making it the second highest capital city in the world.

After a walk through the Historic Center and its beautiful colonial buildings we will go to the monument “La Mitad de Mundo” where you can take the most creative photos standing exactly on the equatorial line that divides the world into 2 hemispheres, north and south feeling the energy of being in the “Middle of the World”

Finally, you will visit the Intiñán Solar Museum, which is very close to the Middle of the World monument. This is an interactive open-air museum where you can learn about the history of ancestral peoples and the importance of the agave plant that was worshiped by the indigenous people as much as if it were a God for its multiple uses to preserve the lives of the inhabitants (food, drink, clothing, shelter, etc.)
