The Andean landscape that surrounds the province of Cotopaxi is full of rocky peaks that you can see through this 4 Days / 3 Nights tour where you will reach a maximum height of 4,200 meters (13,780 feet).
The 1st day begins with a car trip through different Andean cities and towns such as the city of Latacunga from where you can already see the imposing Cotopaxi Volcano, the small town of Pujilí where a colorful fair is held every Wednesday and Sunday and the town of Tigua
famous for its colorful paintings, there you will visit some workshops of artisans painters that capture in their paintings picturesque passages of daily life such as their history, festivals and legends, then we will continue to the Posada Tigua, a country house equipped to receive visitors where you will spend the night.
Today we will go on a walk from the town of Tiga to the Quilotoa crater that has 3 kilometers (1.85 miles) in diameter where the green-turquoise waters of the lagoon that formed there rest, this walk will last approximately 5 hours. During the tour you will have the opportunity to see small towns where local families live in small huts. Once we get to the crater of the lagoon, we will descend, there are artisans who sell their products, you can take a souvenir from your trip to this beautiful place. That night you will sleep in a basic Indian hostel.
Early we will walk from the Quilotoa lagoon to the town of Chugchilán, a typical town in the mountainous region that has a small square, a church and a school, and where people still travel by horse or donkey, it is a remote town that lives like in the past. During the walk you will see the undulating geography of the Toachi river canyon, as you go down you will see how the weather changes rapidly. This hike lasts about 4 to 5 hours following the Toachi river basin. Tonight you will spend the night at Mama Hilda's Lodge.
On the 4th day you have the option of coordinating with your guide to visit a local cheese factory, walk to the nearby town of Sigchos or if you explore Chugchilán on your own before leaving by car for Quito.
