You will visit the city of Cayambe to learn from the producers about the process of growing roses for export, you will also visit the city of Otavalo and its high quality handicraft market called “Plaza de Ponchos” and finally, let’s travel to Cotacachi, the musical capital of Ecuador.
First we will visit Cayambe, the city where there is the largest number of rose plantations in Ecuador, roses that are exported to countries such as the United States and Russia. In the city of Cayambe, which is only 70 kilometres (43 miles) from Quito, we will visit one of the rose plantations to learn about the cultivation process.
Our next stop will be the city of Otavalo to visit its handicraft market called "Plaza de Ponchos," where you can find the work of local artisans. After walking through the market we will stop for lunch and then we will depart towards the city of Cotacachi, famous for its production of Andean musical instruments and articles made of leather. Finally we will continue our return trip to Quito.
