This walk through nature will take you to Mindo, a very biodiverse area where you can see beautiful tropical birds, butterflies, orchids and other animals and plants that inhabit the cloud forests of northern Ecuador. On this trip you will also be able to taste delicious cocoa products and learn about the process of growing and making the addictive Ecuadorian chocolate.
Your guide will drive you down the Andean mountain range to the cloud forests of Mindo with beautiful views of waterfalls and cascades on the road.
When you arrive in Mindo you will find yourself in one of the most biodiverse areas of northern Ecuador that has more than 300 species of tropical birds where you will see some quetzals, hummingbirds, toucans and owls, as well as plants and other animals that inhabit this area of the cloud forest. Here you can also do somo adventure activities (optional) such as "flying" through the circuit of 10 zip lines that extend through the trees for about 3.2 kilometers (2 miles) in total length.
In the afternoon we will stop for lunch and then continue to a factory where cocoa is processed until became chocolate, here you can taste the finished product and buy some tablets to take home. Finally we will return to Quito with recharged energies.
