If you are in the town of Aguas Calientes, you have already visited Machu Picchu and you are still going to stay for at least one more day, do not miss visiting the Mandor waterfall with its crystal clear Waters that you can find on the way to the nearby town of Santa Teresa. This waterfall is located in the so-called “Mandor gardens” becoming an unmissable place to enjoy with family, couple and friends with a height of 30 meters (98 feet).
This walk is guided and begins when your guide picks you up from the place where you stay in Aguas Calientes as well as the rest of the group and then walk through the main square of the town and continue towards the bridges that lead to the road to Machu Picchu however, you should not cross these bridges but you should take the steps that will lead you to the train tracks, this whole process takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes. From there it will take you another 30 minutes, walking next to the train tracks, to get to the entrance of the "Mandor Gardens".
Being natural gardens, you will find abundant flora and you will be able to enjoy the fauna of the place where you will see a variety of birds, butterflies and even if you are lucky you will be able to see the spectacled bear native of the Andes. Once you reach the falls, if you want, you can dive into the soft natural pool formed by the falling water and enjoy this beautiful experience although the water in the highlands is quite cold.
