The beautiful turquoise Humantay lagoon is named after the snowy peak of Humantay that is part of the Vilcabamba mountain range, and when thawing produces the filling of the lagoon.
This tour begins with the pick up at your hotel in Cusco, then you will be driven by car on a two-and-a-half-hour trip to the town of Mollepata and then to the town of Soraypampa, from there your walk begins for about an hour and a half. When you arrive at the lagoon you will be at an altitude of 4200 meters (13,779 feet) but don’t worry because your guide will bring you oxygen to help you in case you feel bad about the “soroche” (altitude sickness).
The flora and fauna surrounding the Humantay lagoon is special due to the altitude of the area. The photographs that you will take with the lagoon as a background will be incredible, its waters are of a crystalline turquoise color that make it look like a mirror of the sky.
At the end of your excursion you will return to Mollepata to have lunch and then start the road to Cusco.
