With the arrival of the Spanish, the city of Lima became the center of Spanish power in South America, the center of viceroy power of those times whose buildings, squares and mansions persist to this day. This night tour will awaken your imagination with the sight of impressive jewels of ancient architecture and magical illuminated water fountains that give this tour a special plus.
The imposing historical Center of Lima with its colonial style still houses beautifully constructed buildings, many of them in the style of Spanish palaces from the 16th and 17th centuries. Around the Main Square converge the Government Palace, the Archiepiscopal Palace and the Cathedral of Lima, illuminated in a masterly way, a spectacle for your eyes. The government palace in particular has been remodeled and restored by different governors in the past, either because of fashion but mainly because of earthquakes that left it destroyed.
Another of the old squares that you will visit in the historic center is the Plaza San Martín, inaugurated in 1921 as part of the celebration of the 100 years of the peruvian independence, hence its name because Don José de San Martín was a character which contributed to independence. Around this square there are large buildings dating from the first half of the 20th century of the peruvian republican era, buildings that are mostly Neocolonial in style.
A little more on the outskirts of the historic center is the circuit of magic fountains of Lima, built in the old Reserve Park, the spectacular play of waters that flow from fountains illuminated with bright colored lights that are best appreciated at night. Not only do they activate your visual sense but you can interact with them and allow yourself to get a little wet by being closer to take some photos.
