Tierra Viva Puno is located a few blocks from the main square of the city, the beautiful Cathedral built of stone in the 18th century and a few minutes from the dock of Lake Titicaca.
The city of Puno also has interesting museums such as the Carlos Dreyer Museum where you can see the exhibition of mummies found in the archaeological complex of Sillustani, archaeological pieces of the pre-Inca cultures that developed throughout the Peruvian territory, objects from the Inca era as well as art and other artifacts from the colonial and republican times. From the hotel it is easy to walk to the dock of Lake Titicaca to take a boat tour to visit some of the lake’s islands such as the Uros Islands, “floating islands” built with stacked reeds (totoras) that allow up to 7 families to live or visit Taquile Island wich is characterized by its weaving art made by the men of the community, not by the women, although it may seem strange, there you can take the opportunity to buy some woven garment that you will not find in any handicraft store.
