Description

You will live an adventure in the Peruvian jungle staying at Posada Amazonas Lodge, this adventure begins with a 45-minute boat trip that will take you from the city of Puerto Maldonado to the lodge. As you navigate you will already be seeing the first native animals in their natural habitat.

Puerto Maldonado is a small city that you can access by bus or plane, it is the starting point to get to the chosen lodge and enter the Peruvian jungle. The lodges in that area are scattered along the edge of the Tambopata National Reserve and very close to the Tambopata River, in a large expanse of tropical forest that protects a huge variety of plants and wild animals such as mammals, reptiles, birds, insects, among others.

Posada Amazonas works together with the local community of Infierno to promote ecotourism by providing the locals with work in the lodge as well as constant training to generate work,  and part of the profit is used to improve the lifestyle of this community while the lodge uses their forest lands. However, this project is not the only one developed between the community of Infierno and Posada Amazonas Lodge, but it is constantly working to implement other projects that generate more profits from ecotourism.

The construction of this lodge is ecological, the materials used are clay from the surroundings, thatched to cover the roofs and bamboo canes for the elaboration of the rooms and cabins. The rooms of the lodge are not totally closed but one walls is open, they are also equipped with their own bathroom with toiletries, towels and hot water, it has a desk and artificial lighting generated with kerosene, they also have hammocks next to the wall open for resting and beds with mosquito nets to avoid annoying insects. In the lodge there are different categories of room that you can choose in advance, if you choose the upper category, you will have free WiFi and electric light until 10:00 p.m.

The dining room at Posada Amazonas Lodge is large and does not have walls around it, only a thatched roof, where Peruvian and international food are served, the food is presented in a three-course dishes that you can serve yourself (starter or soup, main dish and dessert), you will also find coffee, infusions and drinking water properly treated for human consumption. If you have any food restriction or special diet, you can notify us in advance to also notify the lodge so that your request will be taken care of.

The lodge’s hammock room is perfect for getting fresh air and socializing with other guests while you rest and enjoy the nearby scenery. The lodge has established programs for excursions in the jungle or to a nearby lakes where you can see some otters and other wild animals. If you are a flora connoisseur or you are fond a lot about plants there is also a program where you can visit the ethnobotanical center in the community of Infierno, you can also have a wider panorama of the jungle by just going up to one of the three lookout towers of the lodge at a height of about 30 meters (100 feet) to take photos with the jungle as a background and to see some birds such as macaws, toucans or parrots and wild animals such as monkeys in their natural habitat.
