Description

The Tambopata National Reserve is home to Inotawa Expeditions whose main attraction is being very close to three of the most picturesque lakes in the region and being very close to the salt licks where you can see parrots and macaws in their natural habitat.

Among the programs established for visitors to Inotawa Expeditions, there are trips to Lake Cocococha, La Torre or Tres Chimbadas. Many of the expeditions are done by boat and while you are sailing you can catch up with the friendly giant river otters, bird watching is another attraction of this lodge, for this you must leave very early in the morning, so you can see some endangered species such as blue macaws (hyacinth macaws) or harpy eagles, your guide will take you through places where you can see these and more hidden birds in the lush vegetation of the jungle of the Tambopata National Reserve.

In your exploration through the jungle you will also have the opportunity to see land and river animals such as monkeys of different species, large mammals such as capybaras and some reptiles, all with the help of your excursion guide. In Inotawa Expeditions you will have access to use the kayak equipment and bicycles to tour the grounds of the lodge which has some marked trails so you can explore the nearby forest without getting lose. Inotawa Expeditions like other lodges in the Peruvian Amazon work with nearby communities to preserve the sustainability of the economy for these jungle communities.

The accommodations in Inotawa Expeditions are rustic cabins on the outside but very comfortable on the inside, they are built with wood and their roofs are thatched, each cabin has a private bathroom.

Inotawa Expeditions has a large dining room where Peruvian food from the jungle and delicious soft drinks with natural fruits of the region are served. The lodge bar is also a good option to socialize with other guests while having a drink, there you also have electrical outlets to charge your cell phone or some other technological device because there is no electricity in the rooms. The hammock area is also a good place to rest and socialize with other guests.

Inotawa has a bird watching program for bird lovers. There you can see these animals in their natural habitat without disturbing them from their daily activities. So you will be able to see different varieties of colorful parrots and macaws typical of that jungle area such as Amazona Farinosa, Orthopsittaca manilata, Ara Ararauna, Ara Severa, Ara Macao, Ara Nobilis, Ara Chloroptera, P ionus menstruus among others. However, there are many more species including those migratory raptors such as buteo platypterus, Pandion haliaetus and others that feed on insects such as tachycineta leucorrhoa among others. The Peruvian jungle is characterized by its thick tropical forests where it is home to more species that live among the bamboo such as cercomacra manu, rufa celus spectabilis, simoxenops ucayale, ceru ceramus cercusaus, lochotraphyal cercus, cymbilaimus sanctae mariae, among others that you will be able to see during your excursions. of the birdwatching program with Inotawa Expeditions Lodge.
