Overview

This tour takes you to the highlands of San Cristobal Island where you will receive an interesting informative talk about the history of colonization on this island among other information about the geology of the place and the natural phenomena that helped to form it as well as the competition between endemic species of the island and invasive species and how a balance of life has been achieved.

On the excursion you will visit at least 3 waterfalls that form pools of fresh water when falling down the ravines, as well as you will be able to see the species of shrimp that live there and the giant American macro-branches that take advantage of its waters to grow. Along the way you will also see granadilla, passion fruit, guava, papaya and orange trees with fruits that you can taste.

The highlands of San Cristobal Island have microclimates conducive to the development of varied vegetation that is part of humid tropical forests, making the soils very slippery in the rainy season, so we suggest you wear rubber boots to avoid slipping during the hike in this season.

Among the activities that you can do in San Cristobal, you can visit the GALAPAGUERA where you will see giant turtles, participate in an invasive species elimination program as well as be a volunteer to reforest or visit an organic garden and grind sugar cane to drink its juice.
