The Colca Canyon is reaching world interest year after year, it is no longer a hidden wonder of Peru, it is even deeper than the Great Canyon of Colorado and with beautiful views along it.
Day 1
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the town of Chivay, from there the departure to the Colca Canyon begins. On the way you will make several stops at different viewpoints so that you can appreciate the Colca Valley and the Colca Canyon in all its splendor. The first stop and view of the canyon can be seen at the Pampa Cañahuas viewpoint at about 4000 meters (13 123 feet) above sea level.
After appreciating the first views of the valley, the tour will take you to the "Mirador de los Andes" (viewpoint of the Andes) so that you can see at least 6 or 7 volcanoes, including Misti, the most important and representative of Arequipa. On your tour you will also have the opportunity to see the Colca valley in its splendor where the inhabitants of the nearby villages still cultivate on the old pre-Inca platforms.
In the town of Chivay you will arrive at the hotel of your choice to register, take a bath and leave your bags to continue later passing through nearby towns until you reach "La Calera" hot springs, there you can finally relax after a busy morning.
Day 2
The next day your guide will go for you very early in the morning and together you will go to the “Cruz del Condor” viewpoint, from there the view is really impressive but even more so is seeing the majestic white-collar Andean condor fly through the skies.
In each of the viewpoints that you visit in the two days of the tour you will be able to see part of the Colca Canyon and the beautiful landscape of the Colca Valley as well.
After this experience with the Andean condor, you will return to Chivay Town, on the way you will make some interesting stops to continue appreciating the Colca Valley and take the most beautiful photos, thus you will arrive at two more viewpoints until you reach the town of Maca with its small colonial church and you will have the opportunity to see the Choquetico Stone, a kind of stone model that has the design of the pre-Columbian Peruvian terraces that were built on the slopes of the mountains where the ancient Peruvians used to cultivate their food.
The Colca Valley has many picturesque villages, before arriving in Chivay you will visit one of them, the town of Yanque that has a church built in white Sillar stone dating from the 18th century, then you will continue your trip to Chivay, there you will have the rest of the day to explore the city.
Day 3
On the third day, you will leave your hotel in Chivay and start the return trip to the city of Arequipa arriving at approximately 6:30 PM or otherwise, if you have decided, you will start the trip to the city of Puno.
On the way to Puno you will pass through the stone forest on the outskirts of the town of Imata where you will reach a height of 4300 meters (14 107 feet) above sea level.
On your trip to Puno you will continue through the towns of Santa Lucía, Juliaca and you will visit Lagunillas, a lagoon where about 25 species of birds have been reported arriving at different times of the year as a product of migration and others are native to the place. Finally you will have arrived in Puno around 6:30 PM.
