Tambopata Research Center is one of the furthest lodges from Puerto Maldonado, it takes 7 hours to get there. This lodge offers its visitors a unique experience in the middle of the Peruvian Amazon jungle.

The small town of Puerto Maldonado is located in the Peruvian jungle, and is important for travelers because it is the link between the airport and the many lodges that exist in this area and that are located in the middle of the jungle where you can explore the flora and fauna where you will see otters, capybaras, monkeys, alligators and hopefully a jaguar while you carry out the activities that your lodge has programmed.

Tambopata Research Center, is so deep in the Peruvian jungle that it is the only lodge that is located near the Bahuaja Sonene National Park, a protected area where you can see macaws, parrots and parakeets attracted by one of the largest clay licks in the world. Access to wild nature is unlimited while you are at this lodge.

Tambopata Research Center has direct access to the surrounding jungle and its rooms have an open wall that will allow you to rest watching, hearing and smelling the Peruvian rainforest. Each room has a private bathroom with hot water, and kerosene lamps to illuminate the room and beds with mosquito nets to avoid insect bites. During the day there is a generator that turns on at certain times to recharge your cell phone batteries.

The dining room of the lodge is large and does not have walls that surround it, it only has roof, there you will have your breakfast, lunch and dinner, all included with your stay and  prepared with fresh and well disinfected native ingredients, the water in the lodge is drinkable and if you have dietary restrictions or some special diet you must notify it in advance so that the kitchen can accommodate your diet.

Around the lodge you can find some animals walking freely or perched on the branches of nearby trees such as small howler monkeys, spider monkeys, white-lipped peccaries (very similar to wild boars but smaller) and vibrantly colored macaws. Tambopata Research Center, like other lodges of the same administration, have activity programs for adults and children that include walks through the nearby jungle, boat rides, bird watching (parrot and macaw clay licks), kayaking in sections of the river or in nearby lakes among others.
